The
2011 WIEC Safety Fair was held on September 28 with were over 225 fifth
graders attending. Kyle Finley of Live Line Demos
entertained the kids while stressing the importance of living smart,
keeping safe and yet having fun. There were also demonstrations on when to
make 9-1-1 calls and what happens when the ambulance comes , boating and
farming safety. WIEC welcomed back the Illinois State Police's NetSmartz program. This
program stressed the importance of not giving out important information to
new "friends" they might meet on the internet. The
Carthage Clipper Fire Department brought their Smoke House for the kids to
visit. As always, the kids had a great time trying on the gloves and
sleeves our linemen wear on the job.
A big thank you to all presenters for donating their time.
